Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, increasing numbers of people visit well-known destinations to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place. This is happening due to consequences of the technology. This essay will discuss possible reasons of this trend and explain why I believe it is a negative trend.
One of the most important reasons for this trend is influence of technology. People are preferring to capture pictures of themselves to post on social media and online platform, instead of experiencing liveliness of the places. It is happening because, people showing more interests in show-off and focus on other people's doing. For example, individuals post status or stories on Instagram or WhatsApp to demonstrate their personal life and interested in views and likes of status rather than looking at the place. As a result, people take more photographs, without looking at the place. Furthermore, people want to capture moments and uniqueness of places, so they can maintain memories for longer period of time. It would help them to recall memories by photographs.
I believe this trend has more negative influences on visitors than advantages. This trend could affect people's mindset negatively. As it increases the comparison between people, jealousy, expenses and show-off among people. For instance, everyone wants to capture photographs better than their friend circles or family members to prove their lifestyle is going better than others. Moreover, people missed the opportunity to enjoy and explore different destinations without knowing and looking at it.
To conclude, more and more people interested in capturing photographs of places, without looking at place. This is mainly because of the influence of the technology, and it affects negatively on people's mindset, and people missed the chance to experience real beauty of a place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on 'show-off' and 'social media' is mentioned in both the first and second body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, the ideas could be more distinct and supported with more specific, nuanced examples rather than general statements about jealousy or lifestyle comparisons. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., repeating 'without looking at the place' multiple times). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to avoid a somewhat formulaic structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There is a reliance on basic phrasing, such as 'people are preferring' and 'show-off'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there are some awkward collocations, such as 'consequences of the technology' (which should be 'consequences of technology') and 'maintain memories for longer period of time'. To improve, the student should aim for more precise academic vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to the topic of tourism and digital behavior.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the influence of the technology' should be 'the influence of technology') and verb forms (e.g., 'people showing more interests' should be 'people show more interest'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur consistently throughout the text. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but the control over these is not yet consistent enough for a higher band score.
