Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely acknowledge that photography or taking selfies has become an integral part of modern life, by which almost every aspect of life is influenced. Although there is growing concern that tourists often ignore the importance of the renowned places during their visit, as they are busy with taking selfies. I firmly believe that learn about the famous places is an essential aspect of live, as it leads to progress in areas such as knowledge, and social development.

There are numerous reasons why people take their own pictures, rather than capturing the architectural beauty of that particular place. Social media, is the primary reason: why individuals prefer to take their pictures. This is largely because of the current trend of posting picture with caption, which mention the place where they are in to get more views. These social media trends encourage people to visit the popular places just to upload their pictures, without even looking at that particular place. A prime illustration of this can be found in modern society, where people just visit places like Dubai and Singapore just to show their pictures on the particular place to their loved ones, just to gain popularity or to gain some views and followers on the Instagram.

However, this is a negative trend, which a large amount of population is following these days. What people fails to realize that knowing about the well- known places is essential, as it helps in broaden the horizon. Not only does this improve their knowledge, but also contribute to economic growth of that particular place. For example, If a person post the picture of a famous architecture building, other people would like to visit that place and might be that's the final location for their next vacation.

From my standpoint, it is crucial to know about the history and the significant importance of the famous places, before clicking there own pictures. This will helps them to enjoy more as they come to know about that place more, which is beneficial for the future generation as well, as they will come to know about the man made treasures on the earth.

In conclusion, historical places and well- known tourist attractions play a pivotal role in our community, which is why I believe that it is necessary to know about them during the visit. Therefore, knowing the history and cultural heritage of a native place is important and provide various information about that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument about social media is mentioned in the second paragraph and then touched upon again in the third. While the ideas are relevant, they could be more deeply explored with more varied examples. The conclusion is a bit redundant, merely restating the importance of history rather than synthesising the main points effectively. Overall, the response meets the requirements but lacks the depth of analysis required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'For example', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow of ideas. However, there are instances of mechanical or slightly awkward usage, such as the sentence fragment 'Social media, is the primary reason: why individuals prefer to take their pictures.' Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel a bit forced. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'integral part', 'architectural beauty', and 'pivotal role'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'learn about the famous places is an essential aspect of live' (should be 'learning' and 'life') and 'broaden the horizon' (usually 'broaden their horizons'). The repetition of phrases like 'well-known places' and 'particular place' limits the range of vocabulary displayed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('What people fails to realize', 'This will helps them'), incorrect preposition usage ('pictures on the particular place'), and punctuation errors (the colon after 'reason' is unnecessary). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are persistent throughout the text, preventing a higher score in this criterion.
