Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing trend about capturing pictures of famous places with themselves without viewing the actual place. The main reason is that people can get an attention by posting famous places' images. I strongly believe that this is a negative trend because it reduces the importance of the places.
Nowadays, many people visit famous places to capture photographs because they can publish those photographs on social media. This helps them to gain attentions on social media as people do like and share those photos. As a result, once they are done with their photography session, they might leave the place without looking them. For example, many people make a target to create reels of certain places just to showcase their lifestyles. When they visit those places, they take images without considering to look at the places. This shows that, social media posts are the main reasons behind this trend.
Since, people pay less attention on the famous places, the core values of the places are getting ignored. If people visit famous places just to capture images, next generations unable to understand the culture and important of the those places. For instance, while thousands of people visit Queen Castle in Victoria, they do not know their history. This is because they spend majority of time to capture images instead of understanding the importance of place.
To conclude, although people take photographs of themselves with well-known places, their main agenda is to publish on social network websites. This is a negative trend because it reduces the important values of the places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument that people take photos for social media is repeated in the introduction, the second paragraph, and the conclusion. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the consequences of this trend beyond just the loss of historical knowledge, perhaps discussing the impact on the local environment or the quality of the travel experience itself.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example', 'As a result', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'without looking them' (referring to places) and 'do not know their history' (referring to the castle). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'social media', 'lifestyle', and 'core values'. However, there is a lack of variety and some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'get an attention' (should be 'gain attention') and 'important of the those places' (should be 'importance of those places'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and avoid repeating basic words like 'famous' and 'places' multiple times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the importance of place'), pluralization, and prepositions ('pay less attention on'). Some sentences, such as 'Since, people pay less attention on the famous places', contain unnecessary punctuation and awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these errors occur consistently throughout the text.
