Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, Increasing numbers of people are visiting famous tourist attractions to click pictures rather than knowing the importance of the place. In my opinion this is a negative which is encouraging more people to follow. People go this famous attractions to post on social media and showcase their lifestyle to public.

The major reason for this trend is the influence of social media. People now days make the reels , vlogs and post photos on Instagram and Facebook to increase the followers and likes to become more popular. This will be a major problem in future as individual will not be interested in country's culture and heritage. For example, a tourist may spend few minutes in front of Eifel tower just to click dozens of pictures and then leave without knowing the history and importance of that place.

Another factor is that people desire to show their lifestyle to public. They have the perception that visiting various tourist attractions will make him look wealthy and high status in society. Smartphones help them to share the images quickly and share live location. These people just visit the place without experiencing it. This trend is increasing the behavior of many social media followers day by day.

In conclusion, One must enjoy the tourist attractions by keeping balance between clicking pictures and spend time gaining more and more information about the attractions. People have forgotten to enjoy the life in reality and also spending precious time with loved ones. They tend to follow and show their lifestyle to world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the influence of social media and the desire for social status are identified as reasons, the arguments could be extended with more depth or nuanced examples. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the points made. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the 'why' and 'how' behind the trend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Another factor is that...', 'In conclusion...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This trend is increasing the behavior of many social media followers', which lacks a precise antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'heritage' and 'perception', but the range is somewhat limited and occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'tourist attractions' is used multiple times). Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'click pictures' instead of 'take photographs' or 'take pictures'. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Eifel tower', 'the public'), subject-verb agreement ('individual will not be interested'), and pluralization ('Increasing numbers of people'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and awkward spacing. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence construction would be beneficial.
