Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has become increasingly common among people to visit most popular places in order to click photos of themselves, instead of searching about place in advance. There are several reasons behind this trend. Although it has few drawbacks, in my opinion, it can be largely beneficial if is done with some precautions.

One major reason of taking photos on renowned placed is social media. People visit well-known places for photographs of themselves because they want to post their photos on social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and many more. When they post them on social media, they not only receive likes and comments from the viewers but also show their creativity to number of people worldwide. As a result, they can get high salary jobs in esteemed organizations which ensure their financial stability.

Clicking photos on popular places without searching information about the particular place can be beneficial for many people as they can get extraordinary experience. If people visit such spots, they can experience unique things about them their are not aware, which make their experience enjoyable and long lasting. Moreover, these places work as a stress buster for many people as they get break from their daily routine.

In my opinion, even though visiting renowned places for photography provide benefits to individuals, but visiting some places without adequate research not always advantageous. This is because sometimes such places may face some problems, such as natural disasters or disease outbreaks, due to which, visitors might stuck at that particular place and may face serious issues. So, it is important to collect some important information before visiting a place.

In conclusion, despite having a few drawbacks of visiting most popular places without looking about them in advance, I still believe it can bring more benefits in one's life if this activity is done with a little research.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument linking social media photos to 'high salary jobs' is a bit tenuous and lacks logical depth. Additionally, the discussion regarding the 'positive or negative' aspect is slightly contradictory; you initially suggest it is beneficial, but then focus on the dangers of not researching a location. To improve, ensure your position is consistent and that your supporting examples are more directly relevant to the core issue of prioritizing photography over experiencing the location itself.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'One major reason', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is slightly disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition from 'extraordinary experience' to 'stress buster' feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renowned', 'esteemed', and 'financial stability'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'click photos' (better: 'take photographs'), 'searching about place' (better: 'researching the location'), and 'visitors might stuck' (should be 'might get stuck'). While these errors do not impede communication, they highlight a need for more precise vocabulary usage and better awareness of natural English collocations to reach the next level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('searching about place'), subject-verb agreement issues ('visiting renowned places... provide benefits'), and awkward phrasing ('their are not aware'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is occasionally repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering the use of articles and ensuring that complex clauses are grammatically sound, as these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band.
