Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and offering an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat disjointed. The argument regarding career choices in tourism feels tangential and lacks a clear link to the act of taking photographs without looking at the place. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the analysis. To improve, ensure that each paragraph directly supports your central argument and provides more detailed, relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Commencing with' and 'In conclusion', but the flow between sentences is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. For instance, the transition between the stress-relief argument and the career-choice argument is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is extremely brief and lacks a clear summary of the points discussed. The logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of clear connections between the sentences, making the overall structure feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly, which impacts the clarity of the message. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'cognizant for them' instead of 'familiar to them' and 'overcome from stress' instead of 'overcome stress'. The term 'plethora of employee' is also grammatically and collocationally incorrect. While there is an attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary like 'ramification' and 'conducive', these are often used in contexts that do not quite fit, suggesting a lack of precision in word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('the famous place'), subject-verb agreement ('survey... reveal'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'they are excel in which field'). The range of structures is limited, relying heavily on simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas. To reach a higher band, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your verb forms and prepositions are used accurately.
