Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been seen that maximum number of folks travel famouse destinations these days to collect memories as their pictures while paying less attention to the place itself. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this and i believe this leads to negative consequences.

To commence with, the impact of social media presence makes people to share their daily life and the places they visit to public. This allows them to show an image of having an interesting or successful lifestyle. In result of this, they focus on taking photos to share on instagram, facebook, snapchat etc. Secondly, the use of technological gadgets s has been making a it a habit of individuals to take selfies. almost everyone carries a smartphone or a good quality camera with themselves while they are going to visit a place which is famouse. therefore, tourists tend to take a lot of pictures while paying less attantion to the beauty of that place.

However, i think this could result in a negative trend which can prevent poeple to enjoy and feel actual experience whilw travelling. They spend their money and time for this moment but it could be a totaly waste. consequently, they leave without gaining any information or knowlegde about the history and culture of that place. Additionally, this also can create some problems at the destination. visitors may stop at the same areas to take unique and impressive pictures. eventually, this could result in overcrowdeding and disturbance at the place which can result in a bad experience as a tourist.

In conclusion, social media and technology encourage people to take more photographs and forgetting about the place they are at. But, this therefore become a reson of lack of experience and knowlegde also overcrowding the area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and the desire to project a successful lifestyle. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about overcrowding is a good observation but could have been expanded with a more specific example or a deeper analysis of the impact on local infrastructure. The position is clear throughout, but the overall depth of argument is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'Consequently', although some are used mechanically or with minor errors (e.g., 'In result of this'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the transition between the reasons and the negative consequences could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but the repetition of certain structures makes the flow feel a bit stilted at times. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the essay is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'destinations', 'lifestyle', and 'overcrowding'. However, there are several spelling errors ('famouse', 'attantion', 'knowlegde', 'reson') and some awkward collocations ('collect memories as their pictures', 'a totaly waste'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of precision and control over more complex lexical items, which limits the score to the 6.0 band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the place', 'a place'), subject-verb agreement ('technological gadgets s has been making'), and prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain errors that detract from the overall accuracy. The frequency of these errors means that the writing does not consistently demonstrate the control required for a higher band.
