Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days tourism has increased a lot and people have started visiting vivid famous places around the world. But instead of exploring the wonders of such beautiful place they have started taking their own photographs around those attraction places which I personally see it as a negative trend due to various reason discussed further.

The first and foremost reason is social media influence. Currently lots of influencers take photographs visiting these well-known places and post it on their social media platform just show it to their followers. Many people get influenced to this type of content and try to recreate it by visiting those places, not to see the beauty of that place but rather to take photo of themselves around such places so that they can show it to their followers, friends and family on the social media platforms.

Secondly people forgot to live their own life and started living the life of others. They get influenced by seeing the lavish life of other and try to imitate those moments in their life as well. Due to which they have started taking photographs of themselves around those famous attraction places so that they can show it to their relatives that they have also visited these places. They forgot to explore the beauty and wonders of these attraction places got into the wrong trend of impressing others.

In conclusion, I think if people stop getting influenced by social media and other people's life then they will start exploring the places with their own eyes rather than taking photos of themselves around it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend (social media influence and the desire to imitate others) and the opinion that it is a negative trend. The ideas are relevant and clearly stated. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the second paragraph echoes the first in its focus on social media and the desire to impress others. To reach a higher band, the response would benefit from more varied examples or a deeper exploration of the psychological motivations behind this behavior, rather than restating the same point in different words.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central idea. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'these places' or 'those places'). The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is functional but could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the range of cohesive devices is somewhat limited.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'vivid famous places' and 'attraction places' are slightly unnatural or redundant. The student relies on basic descriptors such as 'lavish life' and 'wrong trend'. While the meaning is always clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise synonyms and varied descriptive language to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'due to various reason' (should be 'reasons'), 'influenced to this type' (should be 'by'), and 'people forgot to live' (should be 'have forgotten'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly clunky. While the errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater variety of complex structures with higher accuracy would improve the score.
