Student answer (Band 5.5)

In these recent era, some people takes photographs where ever they visit new place without knowing the area properly. This has some advantage as well as disadvantage , that I will examine in further essay.

Firstly, there are several reasons beyond this, lets take in a good way like people now a days looking for spaces to socialize their life and basic things on social platforms. By doing things regularly they takes photos and instantly uploads to social media to increase their followers. For instance, if the person went to Taj Mahal of India, they just capture photo and upload to social platform without knowing the place or what's the history behind mahal. They just do it for fun and just by posting it influence other person to visit the same place .They can also make money when more people see their post.

On the other hand, talking about historical people , they did not have even cameras in their phone, they do not take picture while visiting any place .They used to remember things , store memories in mind , talking and knowing the place where they visited . lets take an example if the person visited Radha Krishna temple, they used to sit there chanting name of lord and just seeing and enjoying the nature, hearing stories of lord Krishna.

To conclude, I would say that people need to know places where they are visiting instead of taking photos without knowing it properly , like learning new experience would gives more knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is limited. While the reasons (social media influence and financial gain) are relevant, the explanation is somewhat superficial. The discussion on the 'negative' aspect relies on a comparison with the past rather than a direct analysis of the current trend's impact. The position is clear, but the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The essay is brief, and the ideas could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', 'To conclude'). There are instances where the flow between sentences is disjointed, such as the transition between the social media argument and the historical comparison. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing, while present, does not always effectively group related ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student uses basic terms like 'good way', 'things', and 'do it for fun', which are repetitive and lack sophistication. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'socialize their life' and 'historical people' (which should be 'people in the past'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of varied, topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people takes', 'they takes photos'), article usage (e.g., 'went to Taj Mahal'), and tense consistency. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
