Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly majority of the population is crazy about taking pictures. It has become a trend that most of the populace visit famous places just to click photographs without even looking at the place. The two most common reasons include influence of famous personalities and impact of social media.

The primary reason contributing to this trend is influence of well known people. The well renowned people has a myriad of fans and they leave a big impact on common people because of their lifestyles. So, whenever actors or singers visit such places for their shooting people often want to visit such places where their idols have been. Thus, people end up visiting and taking photographs of themselves without even looking at the location.

The secondary reason why people go to famous places to click pictures without looking at the place is impact of social media platforms such as instagram and facebook. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you identify social media and celebrity influence as reasons, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, you mention that people visit places because their idols do, but you do not fully explore the psychological aspect of 'why' this happens beyond simple imitation. The conclusion that it is a positive trend because it encourages travel is a valid point, but it lacks depth and could have been supported with more nuanced arguments regarding the cultural or economic benefits of tourism.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'The secondary reason', and 'At last' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the repetition of the phrase 'without even looking at the location' in multiple paragraphs makes the writing feel slightly repetitive rather than fluid. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive markers and referencing techniques to link ideas more naturally across the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'populace', 'myriad', and 'irresistible attraction'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'well renowned people has' (should be 'have') and 'get an chance'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that collocations are used accurately. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'The well renowned people has' and 'Such things attracts'. Additionally, there are missing articles, such as 'influence of famous personalities' (should be 'the influence'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
