Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, visiting different tourist spots is becoming part of people's lifestyle. There is a huge number of folks enjoys visiting famous places for their photographs without actually looking at the spot. While few people believe that they should look and search about the place first before going. This essay will discuss both sides of this trend.

On the one side, there are many reasons why tourists like visiting distinct places without actually gaining information about them is just to show their lifestyle and money. First and foremost, sometimes there friends and knowns had visited the places that they do not even know properly can lead them to go the spots just to show off even if it will not suit their interest. Secondly, people had learn about ancient places like seven wonders of World in their school and college studies those are now not in a really good condition for the few people to visit. For instance, Taj Mahal in India was created so many years ago and now due to the creation of factories and buildings have created pollution leads to the turn of white marble of the Taj Mahal into yellow and that what foreign people are not really aware of.

On the other side, lots of individuals consider that people should be aware of the places they are going to visit and create wonderful memories. First of all, its important to search on google and other social sites about the tourists spots if they are worth visiting because it can be financially demanding. Moreover, people are not even aware of the facilities that place can offer them like health, food etcetera and it can be extra challenging if adults are bringing their old parents and children over there. Furthermore, there will be the language barriers as well if folks are traveling to international countries.

In conclusion, I believe that its a negative trend to go to the well-known places without actually knowing them. Folks should acquire certain knowledge and gather information from people and government of that area before visiting to famous places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding why people visit places without looking at them is slightly tangential, focusing more on 'showing off' and pollution at the Taj Mahal rather than the psychological aspect of prioritizing photography over experience. The conclusion clearly states your position, but the body paragraphs could be more focused on the core prompt. To improve, ensure that every sentence directly supports the specific question asked rather than drifting into general tourism advice.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'that what foreign people are not really aware of.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making the connection between sentences feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financially demanding' and 'language barriers.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'there friends and knowns' (should be 'their friends and acquaintances') and 'the turn of white marble' (should be 'the discoloration of the white marble'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more academic synonyms will enhance your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('there friends... had visited'), article usage, and sentence fragments ('that what foreign people are not really aware of'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences will also help demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
