Student answer (Band 6.0)
Undoubtedly, nowadays people have curiosity to travel different places around the world, however the majority travels to take pictures and record the sites on their phones instead of experiencing the richness of the place. There are various reasons for this, while proving it is a negative development.
The primary reason for this is surge in showing off on social media websites. To explain it, these days people travel to places and click photographs to post on their social media websites to show off their lives. Similarly, influenced from such people others who follow them continue the same trend, consequently ignoring the salient features of that place. Not only show off but it has become a trend to click photographs to keep those memories in the phone rather than experiencing the beauty with eyes.
Hence, these trends are becoming a negative trend as people do not give attention and importance to those famous places. To elaborate, people not only get deprived of deeper history of that place but also they create a chaos to take pictures in front of pop ups by those places. Apart from this, instead of giving knowledge about that particular places there are selfie points created leaving zero interest in the richness, background of the place and giving importance to click pictures in front of such booths.
To conclude, such trends are not only burgeoning to deliver false status show offs but value of such places is also declining leaving zero knowledge about certain places among people

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and the desire to 'show off' as reasons, the explanation could be more nuanced. The discussion on why it is a negative trend is present, but the points regarding 'chaos' and 'pop ups' are slightly underdeveloped and could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is relevant and stays on topic throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To explain it,' 'Similarly,' and 'To elaborate,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The flow between sentences is generally clear, but the connection between the idea of 'selfie points' and the 'decline of value' could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'salient features,' 'burgeoning,' and 'deprived.' However, there are some instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'create a chaos' (should be 'create chaos') and 'false status show offs.' The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and natural collocation required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of academic collocations would improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'people have curiosity to travel different places' (missing 'a' or 'the'), 'influenced from such people' (should be 'by'), and 'instead of giving knowledge about that particular places' (should be 'those'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentence structures are slightly clunky, affecting the overall fluency.
