Student answer (Band 6.0)
Social media is increasingly becoming popular these days. A majority of people nowadays visit famous places to capture pictures of themselves, without even exploring the site properly.
To begin with, technology has made it more convenient for people to take pictures all the time. In previous times, when there were no smartphones and iPads. So, there was rarely anyone with a camera who could take pictures. That is why whenever people have the chance to visit famous places, they enjoy every view and moment. For example, in previous times, if someone visited the Taj Mahal, they were amazed by its beauty instead of just clicking pictures because they did not have any phones with cameras or any platform where they need to upload their journey to obtain more and more views. That is why they enjoyed the scenic view of these places.
Furthermore, in my opinion, it is clearly a negative trend. People visited these tourist attractions to take a break from daily routine and get relax. But if they are too busy to taking photographs, they might miss the chance to explore the creation of these places deeply. Also, they might waste a vast amount of time in editing those pictures to look more good and uploading them on social media. later, they get more stress about getting views on their uploads.
As a result, it is evident that if people are visiting these well-known stations, they need to focus on spending qality time exploring these attraction with their loved ones to get relaxed from todays fast paced life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of technology and the potential loss of genuine experience. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation of why this is happening relies heavily on a comparison with the past, and the discussion on the negative impact could be more deeply explored with more specific consequences. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more depth to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'As a result', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'In previous times, when there were no smartphones and iPads. So, there was rarely anyone...' is a sentence fragment that disrupts the logical flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the management of cohesive devices needs more sophistication.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'tourist attractions' and 'fast-paced life'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'look more good' instead of 'look better' and 'get relax' instead of 'relax'. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of descriptive language to express their ideas with more nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Examples include sentence fragments ('In previous times, when there were no smartphones and iPads.'), incorrect verb forms ('too busy to taking photographs'), and minor errors in article usage and prepositions ('explore the creation of these places'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures is a key area for development.
