Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and offering a perspective on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people take photos is repetitive, focusing heavily on 'memories' without exploring the psychological aspect of social media validation or the 'fear of missing out' in depth. The position is generally clear, but the argument lacks nuance. To improve, you should expand on the implications of this trend rather than simply listing reasons, ensuring that each point is fully supported with clear, logical reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'This easy will articulate' are confusing and do not effectively link ideas. Additionally, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. While there is a logical progression from the reasons to the conclusion, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak due to awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'exploring is not bad when we are going with our knowns' and 'not enjoying the creature' (likely a misuse of 'scenery'). The repetition of basic words like 'good' and 'beautiful' limits the impact of your arguments. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, digital culture, and social media influence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there main aim is'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'In an modern era'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'visitor's gone to see Banff'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would be a beneficial first step.
