Student answer (Band 6.0)
People these days, especially youngsters love to visit famous places but more for the sake of pictures of themselves rather than the place itself. In this essay, I will discuss why this behaviour is getting more common and how it is a negative trend.
Social media is one of the biggest reasons that people focus more on taking pictures rather than enjoying the actual moment or place. Individuals are in a continuous race that who socialises more and who post more about it. That is why whenever you visit a famous place you see people there are all busy taking photographs and no one is interested in the place. For example, I visited Dubai last year with my husband and we went to a flower themed park, named as miracle garden. What a place to enjoy nature, but I saw people were all busy in capturing themselves and not looking at the nature and flowers everywhere. This is a sad reality of our society these days.
This is a negative trend and its negative impact is increasing day by day in our society. The point to visit a place is to enjoy its beauty, how it looks and to know about it and its history, especially if it is a historical place. For example, I met my younger cousin a few days ago, who visited a historical building, monument, in Islamabad. I asked him about it a bit and he had no idea about it but he was showing me the photos which he has taken of himself there. So, this has a huge negative effect on our society especially youth as it is affecting them more. Some measures should be taken to reduce these negative effects, like ban of cameras or mobile phones at such places.
In conclusion, I must say that people nowadays visit a place to take their pictures instead of enjoying it. This has a tremendous negative impact on the society and measures should be taken to prevent it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and the loss of cultural appreciation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the suggestion to 'ban cameras' is a bit simplistic and lacks a nuanced exploration of the practicalities or alternative solutions. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the implications of these trends with more depth rather than relying on personal anecdotes alone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the evaluation. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'For example' and 'In conclusion', but some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the start of the third paragraph, 'This is a negative trend and its negative impact is increasing', could be linked more smoothly to the previous paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, though the flow could be improved with more varied cohesive markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'historical building' and 'monument'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing (e.g., 'sad reality', 'big reasons'). There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'in a continuous race that who socialises more', which is slightly awkward. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic collocations to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'people there are all busy' is slightly ungrammatical, and 'the photos which he has taken' should ideally be 'had taken' for sequence of tenses. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some minor errors, such as the comma usage in 'named as miracle garden'. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences would help elevate your score in this criterion.
