Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays people are interested to explore new places. While visiting these places, it is noticed that they are more interested in taking pictures instead getting knowledge about that place. There are certain circumstances associated with this trend which I am going to discuss in forthcoming paragraphs.

To began, social media is playing a predominant role in this current fashion. Individuals are getting influenced from the social media posts made by their friends and relatives. In order stick to that fashion, they update their profile regularly with the new pictures. In addition, recently vlogging is trending among the people. Folks came to know about the side income that they made from social media posts. If there video or pictures get viral, they will be paid for that. As a results people are more interested in taking picture while exploring new places rather than knowing that place.

However, there is negative impact on the individual knowledge and well-being. For instance, people visit to Taj mahal, India they most likely interested to click photos over there rather than knowing about the history of that place. Consequently, they might miss the deep historical knowledge which they might get while visiting that place. Moreover, people are also start taking pictures and videos on prohibited the places. With doing this they might disturb the decorum of that place, they might also harm cultural value of that location.

In conclusion, individual pictures on the famous places might get famous on the social media; but they should focus on the history and culture of that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. The ideas regarding social media influence and financial incentives are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why this is a negative trend could be more deeply explored beyond the loss of historical knowledge. The position is clear, but the arguments lack the depth required for a higher band. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To began', 'In addition', and 'However', but some are used incorrectly or mechanically (e.g., 'To began' should be 'To begin'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the transition between the influence of social media and the negative impacts could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but the overall flow is occasionally hindered by minor grammatical errors that affect the natural progression of sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'getting knowledge' instead of 'gaining knowledge', 'stick to that fashion' instead of 'follow that trend', and 'disturb the decorum'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the student relies on basic phrasing. More sophisticated synonyms and precise academic collocations would improve the score significantly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'If there video or pictures get viral' (should be 'their'), 'people are also start taking' (should be 'starting'), and 'prohibited the places' (should be 'prohibited places'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent understanding. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage is needed to reach a higher band.
