Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, majority of people plan to visit poplular places to click pictures of themselves, even though they are not that much aware of place. As per my opinion, the reason behind this trend is influence of social media and It has predominantly positive impact on people's lives.

The prominent reason behind this trend is easy access to social media by all age group of people. Everybody would like to become famous or look updated at social media, Therefore If, somebody known is posting pictures after visiting a place then people also put that locations in their wishlist without searching the details in depth for that location.

This phenomenon has numerous positive impact on people's lives. When people go out at such places to click pictures, it not only provide them a spot for photography but it also offers the chance to get connected to nature or historical places. Which provides relaxation and peace to the people. As a result, they can rejuvenate themselves from daily hectic schedule.

Another positive impact of this trend is that it helps to brake the cultural barriers. When, people plan to go in different countries of the world to spend some good time and have thousands of pictures, then they came to know about the history of that places, they learn local language, their local customs and collect memories for their life time. For instance, the place in turkey "free birds" is famous for its princess dress photoshoot, where ladies from all over the world visit this place to have their photoshoots at the terrace with the local dress and makeup .

To conclude, proliferation of information on social media and unlimited number of blogs related to tourism has made it possible for people to go anywhere of the world to do their photoshoot. This trend provides opportunity to people to explore different part of the world, provide relaxation from daily boring momentum, and connect people together from different religions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that taking photos helps one learn local languages and customs is a bit of a leap, as the prompt specifically mentions people who do not look at the place. The example of the 'free birds' photoshoot in Turkey is relevant but could have been better integrated to support the argument more logically. Overall, the ideas are relevant but lack depth in their justification.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The prominent reason', 'Another positive impact', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as starting sentences with 'Which' or 'Therefore If'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, though it lacks sophistication. There are several instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'click pictures' instead of 'take photographs', 'brake the cultural barriers' (should be 'break'), and 'daily boring momentum'. While the meaning is always clear, the vocabulary does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical range remains at a functional level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include missing articles ('majority of people', 'at social media'), incorrect preposition usage ('go out at such places'), and issues with subject-verb agreement or sentence fragments ('Which provides relaxation...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of commas after introductory phrases or before conjunctions. A wider range of error-free complex structures is needed to reach a higher band.
