Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, taking photographs at the famous places has become increasingly common. This trend can be attributed to several factors such as excessive use of social media and show off. In my opinion this is a negative development, and this essay will discuss the main reasons for this trend and explain my viewpoint.

The main reason why this is happening is that people are spending too much time on the social media. To explain it, human beings get influenced by watching the posts or stories of others at various places. Another reason for this is the show off. This is because they want to show their standard by visiting the well-known places, moreover, they tell their near and dear ones to set an image in front of them. Therefore, take photographs to share it on the social media for likes, views, and to get compliments.

Unfortunately, this development has several negative concequences. First and foremost is lacking in learning. Because when people visit the famous places they are not paying attention on the history, and the reason behind that well known building or place why and what that are famous for. The focus of individuals is to take photographs of themselves instead of gaining knowledge. As a result, they waste their time and money as well on tavelling, and food just to get pictures despite exploring the place.

In conclusion, visiting well-known places for photographs are more common thesedays among individuals rather than looking at the place. I felt that it is a negative trend because they are still unaware about that place they visited.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear negative opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and the desire to 'show off', these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The discussion on the negative consequences is relevant, but the argument regarding 'lacking in learning' is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with a clear explanation and a concrete example, rather than just stating the idea.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a progression of ideas, though the transition between sentences can sometimes feel mechanical. For instance, the use of 'To explain it' and 'This is because' is functional but basic. The use of cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'First and foremost' helps guide the reader, but the flow could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect ideas more naturally within and between paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited and relies on fairly common terms. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'show off' (which is informal) and 'tavelling' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to tourism, social media, and human behavior. Avoid informal phrasing to maintain a more academic tone throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the famous places' (article usage), 'spending too much time on the social media' (unnecessary article), and 'visiting well-known places for photographs are more common' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly awkward. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
