Student answer (Band 6.5)
A growing number of people are visiting famous places just to take photographs of themselves, without any interest in the place. I believe this is a negative development and it is happening because people are running after money, fame and becoming selfish day by day.
To commence with, the main reason why members of the society are visiting well-known places just to take pictures of themselves is that they are becoming materialistic and greedy. To elaborate, many people visit historical sites to take pictures and make videos. They upload them on their social media accounts to gain followers and views. This will help them to generate a significant revenue once they become popular. To exemplify, many content creators visit tourist destinations and historical monuments to make reels and vlogs for their social media channels. These famous places will attract humongous viewers as those who had no time to visit such places due to their busy lifestyle may watch these videos and tour the area virtually.
To answer the second question, this is a negative trend because it is shifting the younger generation away from its culture and tradition. To expound, they visit historical areas just to make content for their social media accounts. They make their content interesting by performing activities like singing or dancing at the site instead of showing facts about the place. This is not only shifting them away from their cultural and traditional values but also negatively impacting the mindset of their viewers. For example, many youths who follow such creators have lost their interest in well-known places and they just want to visit the place to follow the trend and make some reels.
To conclude, this essay has discussed that people are only interested in taking pictures at well-known places just to gain public attention and make some money. It has also highlighted that this phenomena is a negative trend because due to this our generation is loosing its interest in history and culture of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that people are 'running after money' is a strong claim, but the explanation relies heavily on the concept of social media content creation without exploring other psychological factors like the 'fear of missing out' or the validation-seeking nature of modern digital culture. The ideas are relevant but could be extended with more nuanced analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, maintaining a consistent stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'To elaborate', and 'To expound' are used to guide the reader, although some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the link between the 'materialistic' nature of people and the specific act of visiting historical sites could be more tightly integrated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main questions posed by the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate and conveys the intended meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use less common items such as 'materialistic', 'monuments', and 'virtually'. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations or word choices, such as 'humongous viewers' (which is informal and awkward) and 'running after money' (which is a bit colloquial). The phrase 'this phenomena' is also a grammatical error regarding number agreement (should be 'this phenomenon'). To improve, the student should focus on more precise academic collocations and ensure subject-verb agreement with singular/plural nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical slips. For example, 'loosing its interest' should be 'losing', and 'this phenomena' is incorrect. There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While the student attempts complex sentences, the control is not entirely consistent. The majority of sentences are error-free, but the frequency of minor errors prevents the essay from reaching the 7.0 band for this criterion. Punctuation is generally accurate throughout the text.
