Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify reasons for the trend (social media influence and financial gain) and touch upon the positive and negative aspects, the essay is incomplete. The conclusion is missing, and the final paragraph cuts off mid-sentence, preventing a full development of your argument. To improve, ensure you provide a balanced discussion for both parts of the prompt and complete your thoughts within the required length. The ideas presented are relevant but remain under-developed due to the abrupt ending.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'firstly' and 'secondly' to organize ideas, but the flow is often disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which hinders the overall logical progression. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas is mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence that leads to a coherent conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'get scams' instead of 'fall victim to scams' and 'shout videos' instead of 'shoot videos'. Spelling errors, such as 'nowdays' and 'cantinously', also detract from the quality of the writing. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary related to social media, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling mistakes limit the score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would greatly enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments (e.g., 'which provide information to masses...') and incorrect punctuation. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
