Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, a large number of people love to visit the famous destinations for their pictures and videos. This trend spreading because of some reasons. Firstly, modern people mostly prefer to take advice from their relatives and friends instead of searching their pictures on google or other website.

They try to save their time by taking with others about their preferences rather than searching and gaining knowledge of any place.

Moreover, today people like to capture memories on their phones rather than really enjoying them and capturing with eyes. For example, when youngsters go any well-known place they make their videos and post them on social media apps like Instagram, twitter, Tik-tok etc. No doubt, everyone use these social apps. So youngsters always try to follow their influencers and also visit the same places to take their photograph in the run to get more views and likes for being famous.

According to me, this trend is not much positive because before visiting any place if someone try to search about it on maps and websites they can also find pictures and other useful information related to the place. Moreover, is student search about the destination they can gain a lot of knowledge which would be very beneficial for their studies. Moving forward, taking photographs also nice but it will be better for visitors to spend more time with their family or friends when they visit anywhere. It helps to build a strong and healthy relationship with them. Youngster try to learn about the history and importance of the location rather than spending their whole time in taking pictures and shorts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding why people visit these places is slightly confusing, particularly the point about taking advice from friends versus searching online. The argument that the trend is negative is clearer, focusing on the benefits of research and social interaction. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-developed examples and ensure your reasoning is logically connected to the prompt. The response is a bit repetitive, and some points, such as the mention of students, feel slightly disconnected from the main argument about tourism.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, 'Moving forward' is used in a context where a concluding or summarizing transition would be more appropriate. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'This trend spreading because of some reasons,' which lacks a proper verb. While there is a logical progression from the causes to the opinion, the flow between sentences is often choppy, and the connection between ideas could be strengthened with more varied and precise linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'famous destinations' and 'good/nice'. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'taking with others' instead of 'talking with others' and 'capturing with eyes'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'influencers' and 'social media apps', the overall range is limited. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions, and ensure that word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone use these social apps'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'if someone try to search'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and pluralization, to ensure your complex sentences are error-free.
