Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and discussing whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is inconsistent. While the reasons for the trend are mentioned, the argument regarding whether it is positive or negative is contradictory, as you state it is both positive and negative within the same essay without a clear, unified stance. Furthermore, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of your analysis. To improve, ensure you take a clear position and provide more detailed, balanced support for your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly'. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The transition between the positive and negative aspects is abrupt, and the conclusion is extremely brief and lacks a summary of the main points. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall structure feels mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next, culminating in a more comprehensive conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally functional but limited in range. You rely on simple, repetitive phrases such as 'famous places', 'take photographs', and 'social media'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'outing places' instead of 'tourist destinations' or 'scenic spots'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people loves', 'some people doesnot look'), incorrect verb tenses ('go to visit' instead of 'went to visit'), and punctuation errors. The use of 'i' instead of the capitalized 'I' is a recurring error. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and capitalization.
