Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, taking selfies and pictures of well-known spots with little knowledge on the place they are visiting or clicking pictures is growing among young people. While, majority argue this is a negative trend, minority contemplate it is positive trend as it promotes their history and culture. In my opinion, I stand firm with former statement and agree that it is negative trend. We will discuss, on this topic in detail on ensuing paragraphs.

Every young kid want to jump in the trend of visiting new places to show off to their online friends. On the forefront of this are social media platforms, where adolescents have thousands of friends. In order to stay relevant among friends, they simply visit new places to click pictures and post online to get their validation. Moreover, every young kid post videos and pictures for likes and comments. Furthermore, influencer culture is on peak among children, they use make videos and use innovative tactics to gain attention. This ensures maximum payout on their content from social media platforms. it is also consider easy technology, as taking pictures with mobile phones are quite convenient.

Conversely, there are many cons of this trend one of most important drawbacks are the destruction flora and fauna of the historical sites. Furthermore, it creates overcrowding; long ques and blocking others who want to enjoy the site. Additionally, influencers and tourist miss-out on learning the history, art, and culture of the destination. There are minor benefits such as it promotes local tourism and promotes others to visit, but superficial engagement overshadows all its benefits.

In conclusion, although we have minor benefits of this trend, the drawbacks far more outweighs all advantages it offers. The government should educate youngsters to understand the importance of their historic place and should have regulations against such actions, which puts safety of people and sites in jeopardy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention 'social media' and 'influencer culture' as reasons, these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The discussion of the negative impacts is relevant, but the argument remains somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with specific evidence or logical consequences rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Conversely' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the introduction: 'While, majority argue...'. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task, which helps the reader follow your argument without significant difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'superficial engagement', 'jeopardy', and 'innovative tactics'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'clicking pictures' (instead of 'taking'), 'on peak' (instead of 'at its peak'), and 'minority contemplate it is positive trend' (instead of 'a positive trend'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring articles (a/the) are used correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('every young kid want', 'it is also consider') and missing articles ('on the ensuing paragraphs', 'destruction flora'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward sentence constructions that affect readability. While you attempt complex sentences, the accuracy is inconsistent. To achieve a higher score, you need to proofread specifically for subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with greater grammatical precision.
