Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, many individuals prefer clicking pictures of popular places rather than admiring the beauty of the place. Photographs capture memorable moments but also deviate us from understanding the history and culture of the destinations. I personally feel one should embrace the landscape and cherish the view with their eyes.
I believe tourists are influenced by social media to visit famous spots as posting them online gives them a sense of validation. Whereas some people want to showcase an online lifestyle to influence masses either to motivate or to undermine them. When I go on a vacation with my loved ones, their priority is to be well- dressed for clicking pictures. Recently, various accidents have occurred at tourist attractions, where people have either fallen off a cliff or run over by a car while taking photographs. Clicking pictures or making videos is now a leading cause of death at well-known places. It has been observed that people who travel without a camera tend to have greater insights of the destination than ones with a camera.
It is essential that tourist have a complete experience when visiting a famous spot. Clicking pictures is part of the journey but understanding the essence of the location is crucial. I travel with one backpack and no phone or camera but still get the best experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons (social media validation) and expressing a clear opinion (negative trend). However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat brief manner. For instance, the point about accidents at tourist sites is an interesting example, but it is not fully connected to the broader argument about the loss of cultural experience. To reach a higher band, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better link the negative consequences to your final recommendation. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the overall flow would benefit from a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'landscape', 'validation', and 'essence'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'deviate us from' (which should be 'distract us from') and 'greater insights of' (which should be 'greater insights into'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to express your ideas with greater sophistication. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'tourists have a complete experience' should be 'tourists have a complete experience' (plural), and 'run over by a car' is missing the auxiliary verb 'are'. Additionally, 'tend to have greater insights of the destination' is slightly awkward. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice will help improve your accuracy.
