More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Is it a positive or a negative trend?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
in my opinion this is a negative trend as place are not actually meant to be clicking photographs as it should be enjoyed in the current life. Visiting new places always brings excitement to know about the place, just not by clicking photograph it should be remembered but also by knowing about the value of that place is important.
if i talk about my experience, i used to be busy clicking photographs and at last, i end up with no knowledge about the place. Earlier i had a mindset that photographs are meant to be kept as a memory and yes it i but i think the place itself is a beautiful. i know photographs can be saved for so many years but what the use of it if you don't know anything about that place.
nowadays, people are more keen of using social media , doing showoff to their friends or family members. even i was doing the same. all the Gen-Z nowadays, don't look for places but went their, clicked the picture and came but if anyone asks the, about the place, they will not able to

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 189 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify the trend as negative and provide some personal reasoning, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. You touch upon social media and 'showoff' culture, but the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the conclusion and the final point incomplete. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure the essay is fully structured with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The current length prevents a full exploration of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no formal introduction or conclusion, and the paragraphing is inconsistent. While there is a basic attempt to sequence ideas, the progression is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are largely absent, making the flow of ideas feel mechanical or abrupt. For example, the transition between your personal experience and the broader societal trend is not clearly marked. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple phrasing such as 'clicking photographs' and 'knowing about the place'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'doing showoff', which is not standard English. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cultural heritage', 'digital documentation', or 'superficial engagement'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more precision and variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'place are not actually meant'), sentence fragments, and incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'they will not able to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
