Student answer (Band 5.0)

To Start with this nowadays people are more and exited to explore new places, they like to spend more time with their family and friends, In my opinion capturing memories is most beautiful thing that peoples are carry life time

Firstly, India is a wide country, There are so many festivals people enjoy in India, in my side point of view this is a positive point, Place is not important for anyone people stay together and spent quality time together is most important think, for instance if we went somewhere beautiful place on earth and comeback without capture any photo only enjoy the view, after some year we talk about it but we don't have any photo that we can memorize that place

Secondly, It has negative side also, right now the trend is people go somewhere capturing different pictures and post it on social media, they don't spent quality time with their near once, i think in my language this is called formality that people are doing nowadays,

Thirdly people only intent to them self, If someone is in some problem like old people cant walk proper they dont help them but at that time they capture photo with them this is not good

To sum up with this Capturing photo of themselves is good for memories but without looking place and situation is not good

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and discussing whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and the response is under the minimum word count, which significantly impacts the depth of the argument. The points made, such as the importance of memories versus the superficiality of social media, are relevant but lack sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. The position is clear, but the overall development is underdeveloped, leading to a score of 5.0. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the 250-word requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To Start with this' and 'in my side point of view'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition to the topic of helping others feels abrupt and disconnected from the main theme of photography. While there is an attempt at logical sequencing, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the transitions limit the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'exited' instead of 'excited', 'peoples' instead of 'people', and 'near once' instead of 'near ones'. The range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday language, and there is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and using more precise vocabulary to describe the social phenomena discussed in the prompt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and punctuation. For example, 'people stay together and spent quality time together is most important think' is grammatically incorrect and difficult to parse. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often run-on or fragmented. Frequent errors in basic grammar, such as 'if we went somewhere beautiful place' (should be 'to a beautiful place'), impede the clarity of the message. Improving your control over basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is essential.
