Student answer (Band 4.5)

Many people believe that studying in a foreign country is more significant because it increase a person's knowledge and help him to identify the world. Although many people also believe that student's native country is a more good way to build a good career. In my opinion studying abroad is best.

On the one hand, studying abroad can give us a opportunity to explore a different country. Students who go abroad to study, usually stay in hostels which develop a self working skill in them. They learn to cook their own food, clean their room, washing their clothes and much more. These all skills help them in their career and in many aspects of their life. For example, a study in 2019 shows that students who study abroad has 40 percent more successful career rate than the students who study in their native countries.

On the other hand, studying in your native land can build a sense of self confidence in student which later help them in many ways specially, in their career. Another advantage of studying in homeland is that there is no language difference, hence the student enjoys learning. For example, two sons of my uncle from which one who study in his own country has better confidence and grip in his topics as compared to his brother who was gone abroad for study.

In my opinion, studying abroad is more beneficial because through it we can do more advance study and explore the different cultures and skills that helps us in our practical life.

In conclusion, studying out of country is helpful because we can learn different skills and can do more advance study, although studying in your own country can also help us in many aspects such as in confidence building and enjoying learning. In my opinion studying abroad is best way to study.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the trend of people visiting well-known places to take photographs without engaging with the location. However, the essay discusses the merits of studying abroad versus studying in one's native country. Because the student has failed to address the specific task prompt entirely, the response cannot be assessed as a successful attempt at the set task. While the student provides a position and some supporting ideas, they are irrelevant to the question asked. To improve, the student must carefully read the prompt and ensure their arguments directly answer the specific questions posed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs with clear introductions and conclusions. The use of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' helps to guide the reader through the argument. However, the progression of ideas is undermined by the fact that the content does not relate to the prompt. Within the context of the essay itself, the flow is logical, but the lack of relevance to the task makes the overall coherence ineffective for the purpose of the IELTS exam.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'self working skill' and 'more good way'. The student relies on simple, repetitive vocabulary throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary, while ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it increase', 'student... has'), incorrect comparative forms ('more good'), and awkward phrasing ('who was gone abroad'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the high frequency of basic grammatical errors limits the score. To improve, the student needs to focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
