Student answer (Band 6.0)

Posting on social media is getting popular day by day. As a result people go to visit distinct places to take pictures regardless of looking at the surroundings. I strongly believe that it is not an appropriate trend, my essay aims at discussing it in detail and providing reasons behind my viewpoint.

On the one hand, the most prominent point is that individuals invest all of their time as well as efforts to boost their social channels. To elaborate on it, people try to post more and more photos on sites such as Instagram, Facebook and many more to gain publicity which may lead for them to ignore beauty or importance of a particular place they are visiting because the more they will be posting on these apps the more views/likes they will achieve which may pave a path for them to earn a significant amount of money as well as these applications pay money to its users who keeps on posting actively. On the other hand, not only human beings want the attention of the public but also they want to show off on these sites by uploading the travel vlogs, videos and so on. This allows them to gain a certain attention of ordinary individuals.

Additionally, human beings are too much invested in their own selves and they just stay focuses on getting their pictures clicked on different places, maybe either they want to share them with their loved ones or keeping with themselves as brilliant memories. Unfortunately, by focusing on that they might miss even having a look at the place they are visiting.

In conclusion, although getting recorded can be a wonderful experience and way to keep precious moments with us for the lifetime, I undoubtedly believe that this is a negative trend which can result in unrecognizing the speciality of highly significant places in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on social media motivation in the second paragraph is quite lengthy, while the 'negative' aspect is only briefly touched upon in the conclusion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the consequences of this trend, rather than just stating that it is a negative trend. The ideas are relevant, but they could be more thoroughly extended.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Additionally' to signal transitions. However, some of the linking is a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs feels slightly abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of 'it' and 'they' occasionally lacks a precise antecedent, which can make the reader work harder to follow the argument. Improving the variety of cohesive devices would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'prominent point', 'publicity', and 'speciality'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'getting recorded' (which sounds unnatural in this context) and 'unrecognizing the speciality'. The phrasing 'human beings are too much invested in their own selves' is also slightly awkward. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and precise terminology related to social media and tourism. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'which may lead for them to ignore' should be 'which may lead them to ignore', and 'the more they will be posting... the more views/likes they will achieve' is grammatically clunky. Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and more accurate complex sentence construction will help improve your accuracy.
