Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowdays, many people take photographs of themselves because they like nature and obsessed with photography. They visited numerous places for photography because of some major reasons. In my opinion, it is a positive trend. I will discuss the reasons as well as my point of view in upcoming paragraphs.
One main reason of this is the popularity of social media because from children to older people, everyone uses social media and people see others to do various activities like photography on social media apps such as instagram, facebook, snapcaht and many other apps. Due to this they follow trend of others and wa, people can create memories with friends and family members when they go outside to take photosnt to take photography. Secondly, everyone uses smartphone and this make easier to take photos in good-quality. Another reason is that they can stay touch in each other where they are. For example, on snapchat individuals do different activities, such as they start streak with other and sharing snaps. Due to this, other person can get idea where they are and what they are doing.
I believe this is a positive trend because of some major consequences. First and foremost is that people can create memories with friends and family members when they go outside for photography. Furthermore, individuals can explore places and they know about other culture when they go on different place for photography which benefit for their future. For instance, a person who is far away from their family can take pictures and send to their family to involve their family in same experience.
All and all, people take more photographs of themselves because of social medial and the convenience of smartphones. In my opinion, this is a positive trend because photographs helps people preserve memories.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that taking photos helps one 'know about other culture' is not well-supported with specific details. Additionally, the prompt specifically mentions the phenomenon of taking photos 'without looking at the place,' but the essay focuses more on the general act of taking photos rather than the specific behavior of ignoring the surroundings. To reach a higher band, you should provide more depth in your explanations and ensure you address every nuance of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'due to this' and 'for example.' There are also instances where sentences are disjointed, such as the mid-sentence error in the second paragraph: 'wa, people can create memories.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, which forces the reader to work harder to follow the flow of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good-quality' and 'major reasons.' There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Nowdays' (Nowadays), 'snapcaht' (Snapchat), and 'stay touch in each other' (stay in touch with each other). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they limit the range of vocabulary demonstrated. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('photographs helps'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('everyone uses smartphone'). Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'everyone uses social media and people see others to do various activities.' While you attempt complex structures, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and preposition usage.
