Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response struggles to address the prompt effectively. While it acknowledges the topic of taking photographs at well-known places, the ideas are repetitive and lack depth. The student fails to clearly articulate why this is happening or provide a balanced argument regarding whether it is a positive or negative trend. The discussion is fragmented, and the transition to talking about 'AI apps' is tangential and does not directly answer the prompt's core questions. The position is inconsistent and difficult to follow, which prevents the development of a coherent argument. To improve, the student should focus on structuring their response into clear paragraphs, each dedicated to one part of the prompt, and provide specific, relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks logical progression and paragraphing. The entire response is written as a single, long block of text, which makes it difficult to follow the writer's train of thought. There is a lack of cohesive devices; sentences are often linked by simple commas or run-on structures, creating a 'stream of consciousness' effect rather than a structured argument. Referencing is often unclear, and the lack of clear topic sentences makes it hard to identify the main point of the response. To improve, the student must use clear paragraph breaks and a variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') to connect ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'good', 'place', and 'picture' throughout the text. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect collocations, such as 'my according a good for picture' and 'not eye catchy'. The student attempts to use some more complex terms like 'contemporary epoch' and 'fascinating', but these are often used incorrectly or in contexts that do not fit the formal tone of an IELTS essay. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and practicing collocations to ensure words are used in natural, appropriate combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There is a heavy reliance on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are consistently marred by errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and punctuation. For example, 'many people are go to a good place' and 'if I takes a own opinion' demonstrate significant issues with basic grammar. Punctuation is largely ignored, with long, run-on sentences lacking appropriate full stops. The lack of control over basic syntax makes the text difficult to read. The student needs to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
