Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent times, bunch of individuals travels to famous destination to capture photographs of themselves, despite of looking at good place. There are many significant reasons to support given statement like capturing photos to post on social medias, forgiving memory of place and to recognize that place instantly. As per my opinion, this is without any doubt negative trend.
Firstly, lots of people would like to go on vacation to enjoy themselves. On the other hand, it become a trend that people started taking pictures of their selves and posting it onto social media platforms such as instagram, Facebook , etc. This will lead to gain more followers to them and getting likes and comments at that time. Due to this people forgot to enjoy that place and will missed the beautiful and splendid view of particular place. For instance, people travel to Paris to see Eiffel Tower instead of watching its greatness of engineering to built this tower and its beautifulness people often waste their time to take photos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 170 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is truncated and lacks a concluding paragraph. While the prompt asks for reasons and a position on whether the trend is positive or negative, the ideas provided—such as social media validation and the loss of the travel experience—are underdeveloped. The lack of depth and the failure to complete the task structure prevent a higher score. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you provide a full conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand', which helps the flow. However, the paragraphing is problematic; the second paragraph is very short, and the essay ends abruptly without a conclusion. The logical progression is interrupted by the lack of a final summary or synthesis of ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'to recognize that place instantly', which does not clearly link to the previous context. Improving the structure by adding a clear introduction, distinct body paragraphs, and a concluding summary would significantly enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'bunch of individuals' (informal), 'forgiving memory' (incorrect usage), and 'beautifulness' (non-standard). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'social media platforms', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and avoid informal phrasing or invented words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'despite of looking' (should be 'instead of looking'), 'it become a trend' (tense error), 'taking pictures of their selves' (should be 'themselves'), and 'to built this tower' (should be 'to build'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring consistent verb tense throughout your writing.
