Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, most of the individuals explore tourist destinations just for the sake of clicking photos of their own rather than watching the beauty of places.According to me, this trend is going on due to social media and Its demerits overpower merits.
On the one hand ,there are some benefits of clicking pictures on landmarks. It is best way to keep memories alive lifelong. To explain it more, it not only the way to recall memories afterwards but also we can pass on to our next generation ,incase of death. Additionally ,photos are a proof to show others that “we went there”, ”we are done with”.it also generates curiosity among others to visit that place which is beneficial for that place to increase visitors there.
On the other hand, In my opinion, this phenomenon has more disadvantages. They enjoyed less over there because of their focus on photography more. For example, last year we went on a trip to Banff me and my friends were just busy in clicking photos rather than enjoying the scenery of view. Secondly, sometimes it put impact on other people who are there to enjoy the beauty of that place. Some people just stand in front of the piece or viewpoint longer time to take pictures which is annoying for others.
Finally, some of the places are more different than showed in the pictures because sometimes cameras cannot capture the scene accurately, which diminishes the attraction of that place because people post the pictures on social media platforms and everyone check the place on photos before visiting there.
In conclusion, Photography is a hobby for some persons but it put bad impact on tourism as well as places a lot such as ruining the beauty of places by editing photos and less enjoyable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons for the trend (social media) are mentioned, they could be explored in greater depth. The discussion on the negative aspects is more detailed, providing personal examples like the trip to Banff. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on brief anecdotes. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument, though it is slightly repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To explain it more' or 'Finally, some of the places are more different'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'incase of death' and the previous sentence is abrupt. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'tourist destinations', 'landmarks', and 'scenery'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'clicking photos of their own' (instead of 'taking photos of themselves') and 'put impact on' (instead of 'have an impact on'). The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic verbs like 'show' and 'visit' suggests a need for more varied synonyms to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include missing articles ('in front of the piece'), subject-verb agreement issues ('it put impact'), and awkward phrasing ('everyone check the place on photos'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and verb tense consistency.
