Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clicking pictures at famous places is a new trend even people have no prior information about the place. There are several reasons behind this case such as influence by social media posts, intense marketing and sometimes peer pressure. I firmly believe that its negative effects are more than the positive impact.

To begin with, in recent years, taking selfies and posting them on social media has increasingly common primarily due to following popular influencer and also showing off to their friends and family members. This is because, many people likes to follow current trend and they are afraid of left behind compare with other people. For example, if a famous youtuber post a video of himself roaming abroad people also likes to book their future holidays to the same place without searching for that place. As a result, they maybe never know any information about the culture of the place they visit.

One of the main advantage of visit famous places is that individual may explore the new place and also gain valuable insight about that place. Which may help them to guide other people about the place. As a result, more people will travel to new places with fundamental information.

However, There are several disadvantages which cannot be ignore. Firstly, people may end up spending more money on visiting the place they might not planned to explore. Which may further restrict them to buy essential things which is more necessary. As a result, they might be in debt and future will be stressful.

To conclude, Although, taking picture at well-known places may be memorable experience and helpful for others but it may cause stressful life due to stricter budget.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The paragraph discussing the 'advantage' of visiting famous places is underdeveloped and lacks a strong connection to the prompt's focus on people who do not actually look at the place. The arguments regarding social media influence and financial strain are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all requirements but lacks depth in the analysis of the 'positive' aspect.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'As a result', and 'However', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragment 'Which may help them to guide other people about the place.' and 'Which may further restrict them to buy essential things which is more necessary.' These fragments disrupt the flow and indicate a need for better sentence integration.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'peer pressure', 'influencer', and 'fundamental information'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'clicking pictures' (instead of 'taking photos'), 'afraid of left behind' (should be 'afraid of being left behind'), and 'many people likes' (subject-verb agreement). The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people likes'), incorrect verb forms ('cannot be ignore'), and sentence fragments ('Which may help them...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization after full stops. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points of the argument.
