Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is irrefutably true that these days, an increasing number of people spend most of their time taking photographs of tourist places rather than spending time mesmerising the beauty of the place. The reasons behind this could be the influence of social media, peer pressure, and more focus on capturing memories rather than enjoying them in real time. As per my perspective, this viewpoint is the negative trend.
The first and foremost reason behind why people are taking more photographs of famous places is the influence of social media. In other words, nowadays people spend a big chunk of their time looking at the lives of other people, like how they dress up, where they go for vacation, what they eat and so on. To show off their luxury lifestyle to other people, people prefer to flaunt their life by posting more and more photos. As a result, people click pictures all the time.
Furthermore, peer pressure is another reason behind people's greater inclination towards capturing photographs. In this world, every person wants to become superior in front of their friends. So that is why they are eager to collect unique pictures and images to boast among their friends. The consequence of this is that people waste their whole time gathering pictures rather than enjoying the actual time.
There is no doubt that this trend is negative because using a phone or camera while capturing the videos or photos may invade someone's privacy. This activity may disturb others while they enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. Clicking pictures by the number of people might damage the cultural heritage of the place.
To wrap up, showing off on social media, peer pressure, and more focus on collecting memories are the main reasons behind taking photographs of tourist places instead of enjoying their scenic view. Although people are trying to save memories by taking photos, this approach is negative because it may impact other people's privacy and destroy the value of other cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing clear reasons for the trend (social media influence and peer pressure) and a definitive stance that it is negative. The ideas are relevant and logically extended, such as the discussion on privacy and cultural heritage. However, the development could be more nuanced; for instance, the argument about 'damaging cultural heritage' is a bit vague and could have been supported with a more concrete example. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the response fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'In other words', 'Furthermore', and 'To wrap up' are used effectively to link ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for some precision, such as 'irrefutably true', 'inclination', and 'scenic beauty'. There is an attempt to use less common items, though some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'mesmerising the beauty' (should be 'admiring' or 'taking in') and 'clicking pictures by the number of people'. The range is adequate to convey the intended meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and sophisticated control required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, and errors are generally infrequent and do not impede communication. However, there are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'waste their whole time' (should be 'waste their time') and 'as per my perspective' (should be 'from my perspective'). While complex structures are attempted, they are not always used with full flexibility. The punctuation is generally accurate, supporting the readability of the text.
