Nowadays, due to hectic schedule of each and every individual, people like to explore different countries to enhance knowledge and refresh their minds. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'showing off' and 'wasting money' are repetitive and lack depth. The explanation of why this is a negative trend is somewhat circular, focusing heavily on the idea that people do not learn about the place, but failing to explore broader societal or psychological implications. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or nuanced reasoning rather than repeating the same points in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. While cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used, they are often followed by sentences that lack logical flow. For instance, the transition 'To enhance with' is non-standard and confusing. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'explore different countries', 'take photographs of themselves', and 'waste their money' appear multiple times, which restricts the lexical variety. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'well places' instead of 'popular tourist destinations' and 'to jealous their friends' instead of 'to make their friends jealous'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. You should focus on learning synonyms and collocations related to travel and social media.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('several people wants'), incorrect verb forms ('it create problems'), and awkward sentence construction ('without look at the place'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors interfere with the overall fluency of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
