Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks for reasons and an opinion on whether the trend is positive or negative, the ideas provided are underdeveloped and often incoherent. For example, the explanation regarding people visiting wild areas and facing danger is largely irrelevant to the core topic of taking photographs of oneself at well-known places. The position is stated but not supported with logical arguments or relevant examples, leading to a failure to address all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are disjointed and often confusing, such as the sudden shift to discussing wild animals. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or are absent, making the text difficult to follow. The referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall structure does not support the development of a coherent argument. The lack of a conclusion further weakens the organisational structure of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'people', 'go', and 'well known'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'masses' used inappropriately, 'take attack in them', and 'good feeling people'. These errors, combined with the limited range, make it difficult for the reader to grasp the intended meaning. The student struggles to use vocabulary accurately to express complex ideas, which is a requirement for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tense consistency ('to took photographs'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions, such as 'It is negative trend' and 'without take friends'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. The lack of control over basic grammar makes the writing difficult to read and understand.
