Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring reasons for taking photographs at famous locations without looking at them (such as social media status and business marketing strategies) and providing a clear position that it is a positive trend because it boosts the economy. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as influencers gaining followers and businesses increasing sales with traditional costumes near forts. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the third paragraph where the economic and social media points overlap significantly with the previous body paragraph. This places the response firmly within Band 6, as all parts of the task are addressed, but some ideas lack full extension and suffer from mild under-development and repetition.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the distinct ideas of causes and the evaluation of the trend. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical, as seen with transitional phrases like 'This, I feel has positive impact' and repetitive referencing ('social media', 'photos'). Additionally, logical progression is slightly hindered in the conclusion, which awkwardly incorporates fragments rather than a smooth summary. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate for a Band 6 score, where cohesion is apparent but mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student attempts some less common vocabulary and topic-related terminology, such as 'marketing strategy', 'financial status', and 'brand promotion'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'large count of individuals', 'just click their photographs', 'sicial media' (spelling), and 'business stratagy'. The range of vocabulary is adequate to communicate the central message, but word choice errors and typos restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, bridging the gap between basic adequacy and more precise control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at conditional and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors involving articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'its a positive trend', 'everyone want to get famous', 'there's high chances', and missing verbs like 'just click' instead of 'just to click'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, with sentence fragments such as 'shooting photographs near such places with their product help in their business.' While communication is not severely impeded, these persistent errors prevent the grammar score from reaching Band 6.0, landing it at 5.5.
