IELTS Writing Task 2 question

More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is become a trend of take pictures of themselves, whenever people visit any new place. Many people believe it is good way to store good memories , while other argue that they miss the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the place. In my view people do this store their memories for lifetime but it has negative impacts which will be discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.

There are many reasons behind it, first and the foremost, people like to capture the pictures with their family member and friends at the places where they visited and keep them in their phones or in storage. Whenever, they feel alone or low they watch the picture which helps them to make themselves happy and motivated. For example. people who lives far from their family and friends like to watch their captured pictures during their hard times which help with to stay relaxed and stress free . Secondly, technology like phones, cameras are build to record the good moments of life which maintains the motional connection between people.

On the other hand, it has many drawbacks, people often stay busy to take pictures and forget the motive to visit the place. In many cases, person go on a trip to spend time with their family or friends or to take break from their daily routine but after visiting their destination they again make themselves with their phones which distracted them from their family and from the place. In addition, by using their phone and camera's they miss the moment to live or explore the place more properly.

In conclusion, taking pictures are good idea to store the memories or moments but people should also spend time with each other while exploring the place and discussing about it. This could ne beneficial for their relationships.

The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, employing phrases like 'store good memories', 'motional connection', and 'explore the place more properly'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'It is become a trend of take pictures' instead of 'taking pictures', and 'motional connection' instead of 'emotional connection'. Despite these occasional inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and communication is never impeded.
