More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people these days does not care about well-known places being visited but are more engaged in taking their own photographs. This essay will discuss the reason and why it is a negative trend.

One of the primary reason is social-media. Individuals want to put posts on social apps as soon as they can so that number of followers can be increased which will help in boosting their post. Thus, showing actively on other people's feed leading to generate more money. For instance, visitors get their photoshoot done by professional photographers at well known renowned places so they can upload their photos immediately on app such as instagram which gives satisfaction when there are too many likes on a post.

I believe, just taking selfies and not looking at the place is a negative trend becuase well-known landmarks looses their importance. People have no interest in knowing about the history of a place as they find it boring and are just busy in taking their own pictures. For example, among thousand of vistors visting Taj Mahal only few know about the history of such a monument when it was built and in whose remeberance. The survey was conducted, only 10 percent of people were aware about this historical building and rest visited to enjoy, take selfies.

In conclusion, historical places and other important landmarks are getting ignored becuase people are more interested these days in just taking their photographs so that they can show others and count likes or disikes.
