More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent times, certain individuals are visiting popular destinations to take pictures of themselves, without looking the place. There are several reasons for this trend such as: they feel safer when the traveller choose a famous place and they can flaunt in front of their friends that they have visited a popular destination. In my view, this is a positive trend because this ideology helps the traveller to explore many places without worrying about which place to choose.

Firstly, people usually want to be safe when it comes to travelling and choosing a popular place for photographs, helps them to save some time choosing from many different options. For instance, a couple wanting to take pictures of their honeymoon could easily choose and visit Switzerland because it is a popular honeymoon destination.

Secondly, nowadays people love to show off in front of their friends and family that they have visited a place which is famous. People usually want to maintain a standard of living and in order to achieve that they visit the famous places and photos without looking at the place. For example, young people posts their trips photos on instagram to show and maintain the lifestyle their friends are living and be the part of the trend.

In my opinion, this trend is majorly positive because of the fact that it helps people travel and discover many places without ever worrying about the choosing from millions of options. While plenty of choices can give a sense of freedom of choice, it can put someone into a dilemma. For instance, it is very cumbersome to visit thousands of websites and choose a holiday location instead of scrolling famous influencer's posts and choosing a well-known option.

In conclusion, in order to flaunt and to be safe while choosing a place to travell and take pictures, people tend to visit well-known places without even looking. I feel this trend is positive as it helps to choose travelling option without worrying about choosing from plethora of options.
