Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern times a lot of people like to visit places which are broadly known by a large number of population merely to get their photographs clicked and videos made by professionals or by themselves. Individuals are travelling all across the world even without doing a proper research about the place or making a real itinerary.

However, I believe that the reason behind this can be social media mainly. Individuals these days from all age groups are heavily influenced by social media. They want to be/stay relevant in eyes of other peers or friends. For example this can be their definition of success in life. They simply tend to copy their favorite influencers and do the same activities or travel the same locations they travelled. Another good reason can be the budget. For instance places which are really cheap to travel if you start from the USA are Bali, Dubai, Egypt etc. People can travel a lot in such a small budget.

In my opinion, this trend has more positive effect than negative. As you may be unaware of where to travel how to make a perfect Itinerary for your visit. You can simply open the google and find the perfect spots to cover in your list and plan accordingly. This definitely can give you a broader picture what to expect from your visit if you are a first-time traveler or a solo explorer. Moreover, it will give you a budget plan as well. By the use of social media you can know the feedback of the people who have already travelled before you and have experienced everything, so that you can be confident in your decisions.

In conclusion, I would say that social can media help you find out that perfect holiday spot according to your needs and liking. But, you should not entirely depend solemnly upon it. Individuals should really enjoy the vacation instead of worrying only about those perfect pictures to post.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the reasons behind visiting popular places merely for photos and offering a clear position on whether this trend is positive or negative. For the causes, the writer points to the heavy influence of social media and the desire to stay relevant among peers. For the evaluation, the writer argues that the trend is largely positive because social media provides helpful itineraries, budgeting tips, and peer reviews for travelers. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on budget mentions specific cheap destinations like Bali or Dubai, but does not fully connect this back to why people take photographs without looking at the place. Similarly, the positive stance relies heavily on general assertions rather than fully extended arguments. Nevertheless, the position is clear throughout, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The text exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas, moving from an introduction to causes, then to the evaluation, and finally to a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate each main idea, such as distinguishing the causes in the second paragraph from the personal opinion in the third. Cohesive devices are employed adequately, with transition words like 'However', 'For instance', and 'Moreover' helping to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing is sometimes imprecise, and certain cohesive links feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition between sentences in the third paragraph occasionally lacks smooth logical bridging. Overall, the organizational structure is clear and easy to follow, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'itinerary', 'professionals', 'solo explorer', and 'influencers'. There are successful attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is sometimes accompanied by awkward phrasing or minor word-choice errors, such as 'get their photographs clicked' instead of 'have their photographs taken', or 'in eyes of other peers' instead of 'in the eyes of their peers'. Spelling and word formation are generally accurate, and occasional lexical inaccuracies do not impede communication. The vocabulary range is sufficient to allow flexibility and precision in places, but lexical control lacks the sophistication required for a higher band, placing this response firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a willingness to experiment with structures such as conditional and participial clauses (e.g., 'As you may be unaware of where to travel how to make a perfect Itinerary...'). There are, however, several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text. Examples include missing prepositions and articles (e.g., 'open the google', 'in such a small budget'), awkward punctuation, and minor run-on structures. Despite these errors, the majority of simple sentences are accurate, and the mistakes rarely impede communication or cause severe difficulty for the reader. This balance of mixed structures and persistent errors is characteristic of the Band 6 descriptor.
