Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why people visit famous places just for photographs without engaging with them, and whether this is a positive or a negative trend. The student identifies reasons such as social media influence, the desire to follow trends, and online imitation. The negative viewpoint is also developed by discussing the loss of historical appreciation and the impact on future generations. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the conclusion which is abrupt and fails to fully synthesise the arguments. Examples are provided, but the depth of development aligns comfortably with a Band 6.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate reasons from the negative evaluation. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'As a result, They just have content...' and 'Additionally, people simply follow...' show mechanical links. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'when they seen on the internet' lacking a clear pronoun subject, and abrupt shifts between sentences impact the overall logical progression, placing this firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'social media content', 'history', and 'disappointing'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are frequently marred by word choice, spelling, and collocation errors. Examples include 'good photography' instead of 'good photographs', 'prefere' instead of 'prefer', 'travel any places' instead of 'travelled to any places', and 'important' instead of 'importance'. While these inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, they prevent the score from reaching Band 7.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Nowadays, many individuals choose to travel to famous places to take good pictures, regardless of knowing about that place.' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are numerous errors with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, including 'when they seen on the internet', 'every place have some kind of history', and 'a result of this a future generations'. Fragmented or awkward constructions like 'where they are going is mendatory things' also appear. These errors frequently cause minor difficulties for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
