Student answer (Band 6.5)
A growing number of individuals visit famous places just to take their own photographs, without showing any intrest in the place itself. This is happening because more and more people are becoming self-centered and money-minded. Although some of them are able to make a considerable amount of money, they are detaching away from their culture and heritage.
To commence with, the main reason why increasing number of people visit well-known places to take photographs is that they want to gain public attention. To elaborate, since making a vlog, reels or taking pictures at famous tourist sites helps them to attract viewers on their social media pages, they become popular quickly. Moreover, this also helps some of them to earn a significant wealth. As a result, more and more people are trying to follow this trend as they believe this is an easy way to grow financially. For instance, Saurav Johin, an Indian youtuber followed this strategy. He made videos at myriad historical places in India. He was able to attarct 10 million followers on his youtube channel and earned humongous profits.
I contend this is a negative trend as due to this people have stopped enjoying the outing and their focus have shifted to earn money and fame only. Although some of the content creators are able to do well and make money, the chances of success are slim. Moreover, people need to understand that success takes time, efforts, discipline and patience. Furthermore, many creators shoot the video without emphasizing on the cultural and historical aspects of the places. As a result, viewers get limited knowledge about the place. Additionally, younger generation tries to copy them as they believe it is an short-cut to success and they gradually loose their intrest in the popular places.
To recapitulate, this essay has discussed that people visit well-known places just to pictures because of their self-centered and ostentatious nature. Their main aim is to earn money and fame. I believe this is a negative trend because younger generation is learning from them and loosing their interest in the culture and tradition of the well-known places.

| Criterion | Band |

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses both parts of the task. The candidate presents a clear position throughout the essay, explaining why people take photographs without engaging with the destination (seeking social media attention and financial gain) and clearly stating that this is a negative trend. Ideas are extended and supported with a relevant example, such as the Indian YouTuber Saurav Johin. However, the reasoning in the introduction slightly conflates tourists with money-minded vloggers, and some of the broader societal impacts could have been explored with slightly more nuance. Overall, the task is well handled and fully meets the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are coherently structured into an introduction, well-defined body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to connect ideas, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in their phrasing. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct central topic. Referencing throughout the text is generally clear, contributing to an easy-to-follow flow of arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating less common lexical items such as 'ostentatious', 'humongous profits', and 'financial gain'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies that prevent a higher band, such as 'intrest' instead of 'interest', 'detaching away' instead of 'detaching themselves', 'attarct' instead of 'attract', and 'efforts' instead of 'effort'. Despite these errors, meaning is never obscured, and communication remains clear throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and relative clauses like 'Although some of them are able to make a considerable amount of money, they are detaching away...' and '...as they believe this is an easy way to grow financially.' There are, however, several grammatical errors present, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('their focus have shifted' instead of 'has shifted'), preposition errors ('short-cut to' or 'loose' instead of 'lose'), and awkward phrasing ('shoot the video without emphasizing on'). These errors do not impede communication, placing the response solidly in the Band 6.0 range.
