Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the reasons for the trend of taking photos without experiencing places and presenting a clear position that it is a positive development. Ideas are relevant, such as the influence of celebrities and economic contributions through tourism. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs where points like social media and economic growth are stated rather than fully extended. While the position is maintained throughout, the support remains at a Band 6 level due to limited elaboration and occasional sweeping generalizations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and Foremost', 'Additionally', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences within the body paragraphs are occasionally linked awkwardly, such as 'So, they able to get more likes' and 'when the number of tourists increase in countries and it will help'. Paragraph progression is visible, but the logical flow is disrupted by grammatical inaccuracies in transition.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'international relationships', 'cultural values', and 'economic growth'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing throughout the text. Examples include 'reasons of this trend' instead of 'reasons for', 'take pictures on a popular places', 'luxurious restaurants without knowing their menu', and 'instead of enjoy the food'. These lexical errors and slip-ups demonstrate a Band 5 level of control, where vocabulary is minimally adequate but features frequent errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by basic grammatical errors. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('I believes', 'tourists increase... and it will help'), missing auxiliary verbs ('they able to get'), incorrect verb forms ('people also takes pictures'), and awkward preposition usage ('on famous places'). While meaning is generally communicated despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical slips places this response firmly at a Band 5 level.
