More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this day and age, several individuals prefer to reach at popular destinations just to capture themselves in the camera, instead of witnessing the true beauty of that location. This is because nowadays showing off to public has become more important than enjoying the trip. This essay will also discuss reasons of it being a negative trend.

One of the major reason is to get attention on social media platforms, such as Instagram, Youtube or even Facebook. Numerous people choose this applications to get famous by sharing reels(short vidoes) and their pictures, which are clicked at those well-known places. This is because social media has become an easy way to earn money and become famous by gaining higher number of likes and followers. For instance, many netizens choose to become influencers part-time to click their pictures at popular locations and earn money as a side hustle. This shows that platforms are earning money and due to this people are loosing ways to enjoy the time with family on trips by focusing more on clicking pictures of themselves and showing off to the world.

Another important aspect to consider is that, it has a great negative influence on adults as well as children as they learn this since young age. This is due to human beings spending most of their time and money focusing on getting ready and look good to show their personality and status on Instagram or Facebook, instead of enjoying the view of the destination their are visiting to enjoy their holiday. In addition, the trend of making reels and live vlogs(video logs) is booming, as individuals usually show-off their materialistic lifestyle, luxury attires and expensive phones pictures in them.

In conclusion, it is crystal clear that in today's world earning money out of clicking own pictures to post it publically, plays vital role rather than focusing on view of famous location. Moreover, it has negative impact on children as they learn this since childhood.
