Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this fast growing world, certainly we can see some new habits of people such as visiting famous places and taking so many photographs of places and themselves without even exploring and knowing the significance of places.

To begin with, as tourism gets fame, people are also inclined towards this new highlights. Firstly, person got the information about his relatives, friends, and colleagues about their vacations through social media. Then, he surfs new places and locations. He pens down list of places to visit in his vacation. When he gets a chance to visit all these places, the first thing in his mind to show off infront of his knwoing people just to get meaningless apparisal from them. With this mindset he cannot enjoy the place and its actual significance. For me, such kind of trends impacts very negatively on individual and even on society. This kind of trend is only a burden on individual's mindset, and mentality. Young generation is prime victim of this trend, who will be the future of the society and culture.

Social Media plays vital role behind this trend. It is evident that tourism could be grew because of such online platforms where people used to shared their exposures along with their photographs regarding the various places across the world. As time goes, people only uses such platforms to share photographs and showing off their vacations. For some citizens, to vist such places and sharing the photographs is some kind of sense of achievement. As a result of this, teenagers or young adults who can easily adapt such process, impacted negatively. Instead of gathering information about well known places, and explore the site in-person, going there and clicking photos are more important and fascinating for them. Sometimes, they don't even remember the name of places where they visited.

To overcome this, problem parents should take responsibility for their children and for themeselves as well. Parents should educate their children about the places before visiting it. They could create some kind of suspense or thrill by telling some stories and background. This could make child excited regarding that place and when they will visit the place, child would be more curious to explore that place and reveal the suspense than just clicking the photos.

In nutshell, I really don't admire such kind of trends. Toursim is not only to visit new places but it is also about educate from different culture and methods. By only clicking photographs, people should not spoil the importance of the place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons behind the trend of taking photographs at well-known places without experiencing them, and clearly presenting a personal negative viewpoint. The main ideas, such as social media pressure and the desire to show off, are extended and supported reasonably well. For instance, the explanation of how individuals plan trips based on online feeds and seek meaningless appraisal from acquaintances is relevant and thoughtful. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly repetitive in the third paragraph, where social media's role is reiterated without adding significant new depth. The position remains clear throughout the essay. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed with clear reasoning and examples, the response aligns well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, and ultimately earns a solid Band 6.5 due to minor under-development in places.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide distinct themes, such as the psychological motivations, the impact of social media, and parental solutions. However, the logical progression is occasionally hindered by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices, such as the repeated use of 'This kind of trend' and 'As a result of this'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance in the second paragraph where the pronoun shifts abruptly from plural ('people') to singular ('person got the information... then, he surfs...'). While cohesive devices are present, they are not always employed with the flexibility required for higher bands. Therefore, the organizational structure fits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor, demonstrating clear overall coherence despite some mechanical referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'significance', 'appraisal', 'prime victim', and 'suspense'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation throughout the text. Examples include 'fast growing world' instead of 'fast-paced world', 'tourism gets fame' instead of 'tourism gains popularity', 'knwoing people' instead of 'acquaintances', and 'meaningless apparisal' instead of 'superficial validation'. Spelling and word-formation errors such as 'apparisal' instead of 'appraisal' and 'educate from different culture' instead of 'learn about different cultures' occur. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6, as the vocabulary control lacks the precision and flexibility needed for Band 7.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'When he gets a chance to visit all these places...' and 'Instead of gathering information... going there and clicking photos are more important...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including subject-verb agreement issues ('tourism could be grew' and 'people only uses such platforms'), missing articles ('To overcome this, problem parents...'), and incorrect prepositions ('educate from different culture'). Punctuation is generally functional, but overall grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. The majority of sentences contain minor errors or awkward constructions, which places the response securely at Band 5.5, reflecting a limited range of reliable structures and frequent non-systematic errors that occasionally strain the reader.
