More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, many people visit famous places to capture images without looking at a place. The increasing use of the social media platforms is the primary reason for this behaviour changes in people. This is a negative trend because it reduces the importance of famous places.

The purpose of visitng famous places is changed over the period of time. Nowadays, people prefer to visit those places for just capturing pictures and posting on social media websites. When other users view those images, they interact with the posts by commenting or sharing the posts. This engagements give motivation to the publisher for posting similar content on social media sites. For example, many social media users take photographs themselves with famous places and posted on those platforms. Once they start getting engagements, they do similar posts with other places to increase their engagements.

This is a negative development beacuse it reduces importance of places. The actucal purpose of visting places should to learn important things related to places such as learning about their historical facts and cultural values. For example, if people visit sun temple to just capture images, they are not able to learn important things such as age of the temple. As a result, newer generations may lack of historical and cultural knowledege. Therefore, this makes clear that this trend has a negative impact on society.

To conclude, many people visit famous places but the purpose of the visitng is changes compare to the past. Nowadays, people visit these places to capture images and publish on social media platforms. They do not give a look to the places. This is a negative trend because they do not learn the importance of historical and cultural value of places.
