Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays many people are travel to well-established places to capture photos of themselves and they do not even look at the beauty of those places. I firmly believe that this is happening because of social media influence. This essay will discuss drawback of this development as I believe it is not a good way of travelling.

One of the main reasons is that people are so much into the social media platforms. They like to post every single photo on such social media applications for likes and comments. As a result, they travel to the places which are famous, not the places which they might like. Another reason is that now people want to capture every moment for their memories instead of enjoying that particular moment or a place. Therefore, many people are always on their smartphones especially while travelling. There main interest is to show others that they are doing trips on such fancy places rather than cherish such destinations.

In my opinion, it is a very negative trend. The major reasons for my opinion is that people are spending thounds of pounds for trips & accomodations and they are not even looking at those travel destinations then it is a waste of money. People can find pictures on the internet its self. I think, travelling is one of the best experience to be felt, people could not spoil it by just scrolling on their phones.

To conclude this, I would like to say that many people are focusing to take as many photographs of well-known places as possible, rather than exploring those places. They choose to travel to famous places just to increase their social media followers. According to me that is very negative development. Travelling must need to be natural and enjoyable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why people visit well-known places to take photographs without appreciating the location and clearly stating a position that this is a negative trend. The main ideas, such as the influence of social media and the desire for instant online validation, are presented and supported with relevant reasoning. However, some arguments lack deeper extension; for instance, the notion that people could simply look at pictures on the internet is stated briefly without fully exploring the psychological drivers behind the trend. Nonetheless, the task is addressed adequately, earning a solid Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is arranged into a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing the causes and the negative nature of the trend, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to link sentences and paragraphs, such as 'One of the main reasons', 'As a result', and 'To conclude this'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or repetitive, as seen with phrases like 'such social media applications' and 'such fancy places', which detracts from seamless flow. Overall progression is clear, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the topic, including terms like 'well-established', 'social media influence', and 'destinations'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'are travel to' instead of 'are travelling', 'doing trips' instead of 'taking trips', and 'thounds of pounds' instead of 'thousands of pounds'. While the intended meaning is clear, these inaccuracies limit the lexical score. The vocabulary is adequate for communication but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several persistent errors, including subject-verb agreement and tense issues, such as 'Nowadays many people are travel', 'There main interest' instead of 'Their main interest', and 'Travelling must need to be'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but prepositional errors and awkward word forms appear regularly. Because these errors do not seriously impede communication despite occurring frequently, the response achieves a Band 5.5.
