Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, Many people visit different locations and take photographs of themselves without looking at the places. These are nowadays trends which are popular among people especially the young ones. Some view the trend in a positive way and some said it have some negative impact. My view support the Trend positvely.

These trend are happening due to the modern world we find ourselves. There are modern facilities built by individuals and Government which people visited and took Photographs of themselves. For Example, An Acient Buildings were constructed by Afolayan family in Oyo state close to the border. It is 100km to the main city of Ibadan. It has different recreation centre and serve as Adventures for people. Many people went there to photographs and posted it online to show the beauty of the enviroment. Another example is the Iya-Alake recreation centre built by the government for recretional purpose. Both Adults and Youths visit this place to take photos of themselves.

However, The photograhps taken show the beauty of these places and also served as educational purpose. Many people are Extrovert, who love to visit places for fun and broaden there knowledege and understanding about places. Some took photo as memory, saved it so as to showcase it to future generations.

Moreover, this trend might affect Nagetively if they were abused by people. Many people went to different places to take pictures and write negative captions after leaving the locations, these had been seen online. Another thing to be careful of is the security of places. Not everywhere is safe to go. Many people people risk there lives because they want to take photos in a place.

In conclusion, The Trend show more positive benefit than the negative impacts. The negative impacts can be controlled by introducing rules and regulations. i strongly support taking photograhps without looking at places because of its positive benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why people visit places just to take photographs and whether this trend is positive or negative. The writer presents a clear position supporting the trend, stating that it shows beauty and serves educational and memory-keeping purposes, while also acknowledging potential negative impacts like security risks and negative captions. However, the ideas are somewhat under-developed, relying on specific local examples from Nigeria (such as the Afolayan family building and Iya-Alake recreation centre) that remain slightly disjointed from a broader global analysis. The position is maintained throughout, but the depth of argument aligns more closely with the Band 6 descriptor, where relevant ideas are presented but lack full elaboration and extension.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is organized into clear paragraphs, starting with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing the causes and the positive/negative aspects, and a conclusion. There is a discernible overall progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'These trend are happening' and 'However, The photograhps taken...'. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate distinct points, but referencing and logical links between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, restricting the flow. These characteristics place the text firmly within the Band 6 criteria for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their thoughts on tourism, recreation, and photography. There are attempts to use less common items such as 'recreation centre', 'educational purpose', and 'future generations', but there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'An Acient Buildings', 'enviroment', 'recretional', 'Extrovert' (used where 'extroverts' or 'adventurous' might be intended), and 'Nagetively'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the writing from reaching a Band 7, fitting comfortably at Band 5.5 or 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('These trend are', 'photographs and posted it', 'This trend might affect Nagetively if they were abused'), capitalization errors ('An Acient Buildings', 'Trend positvely'), and article misuse. Punctuation is also erratic in places. Although the writer attempts complex structures, these attempts frequently contain errors that require the reader to slow down slightly, making a Band 5.0 evaluation appropriate for this criterion.
