Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemprary era, people visting well-known places and taking more and more pictures to upload on their social media rather than enjoying the view. I believe that this is a negative trend, because people may pay more attention on the attractions instead of taking photographs. This essay will discuss the reason of this trend in the upcoming paragraphs.

To began with the reasons of this trend. The main and most important reason is that to get famous on the online platforms. People want attractive photoes to upload on their social media, for example Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok in order to get likes and comments. Famous landmark help to make photoes more attractive. Apart from this, fear of missing out. When people sees other individuals to taking pictures and want to do the same. It is not only help them to follow the trend, but also it is a good way to save their memories. Today's generation feels their trip incomplete without photoes.

However, this is a negative trend. The reason behind this trend is that people lose the actual experience of their travel, because they are too focused on taking photographs. Another reason is people is falling apart from their culture and traditions. When people visit one specific place they do not try to find the exact reason or custom. They just creat some fake stories or add some additional information to get views on their reels. Therefore, individuals are not well connected to their religions and traditions. Moreover, people may not appreciate the history, custome or values.

To concluded, taking photoes on personal trips become quite famous, since some people only visit the famous places to post on their social media not because they are genuiny insterseted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by explaining why people photograph famous places without looking at them and clearly states a position that this is a negative trend. Ideas are presented and supported, such as the desire for online fame, social media validation, and the fear of missing out. However, some arguments in the body paragraphs lack full development or slip off-topic slightly, such as the claim that tourists are falling apart from their culture and traditions when taking pictures. Despite these minor lapses, the main prompt requirements are covered, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged coherently with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, reasons, negative aspects, and conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the sentence fragment 'To began with the reasons of this trend' and 'Today's generation feels their trip incomplete without photoes.' Referencing and transitions between sentences can occasionally feel abrupt, as seen in the transition from discussing social media to the fear of missing out. Overall organisation is present, but logical progression requires smoother links, aligning with Band 6.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer attempts less common vocabulary such as 'contemporary era', 'social media', and 'landmarks', but lexical control is limited by frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'contemprary', 'visting', 'photoes', 'creat', 'custome', 'genuiny', 'interseted'). While the vocabulary is adequate to communicate the central message of the essay, these repeated spelling mistakes and occasional word choice inaccuracies restrict the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors throughout the text, such as 'people visting ... rather than enjoying' (missing verb), 'people may pay more attention on the attractions' (preposition error), 'When people sees other individuals to taking pictures' (agreement and verb form errors), and 'people is falling apart' (subject-verb agreement). These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the overall meaning remains recoverable, placing the performance firmly in the Band 5.5 range.
